Make sure you have a good product idea/functioning workflow already in place
Don’t buy a CNC router thinking it will solve all of your business problems or kick start a new market immediately. If you have a customer base already, allow the CNC to merge into your already busy workflow. After it is established in your primary source of business, you can then branch out into more difficult and elaborate projects.
Don't buy the cheapest machine
Many customers are attracted to the low cost CNC without realizing the machine and options are severely lacking in capability or are not built for long term service. Go with a CNC from a company whose machines have a track record for longevity. Techno CNC machines are typically in service 15 to 20 years and we offer all of our machinery at competitive prices .
Make sure you invest with a CNC provider with good service and support
If a CNC is working well, a customer is happy. It is very rare that a CNC will never need support. Make sure the company you buy from has free support and is easily reached.
Check the online reviews, get some references, and see if your CNC provider has a good history and online presence. Techno offers free support for the life of your CNC machine.
Don't buy a CNC that's just big enough/only equipped with options for current projects
Many customer lament later on that they should have gone with the larger table size or gotten the automatic tool changer option. As your business grows vastly, you won’t want to replace a CNC you just bought, right? Get the most out of your investment by adding the “extras” while investing. You are investing a lot of money into this machine; might as well make it as fully equipped as you possibly can, without totally breaking the bank. The good news is Techno works with their customers long term and can offer a trade up toward a more appropriate CNC as their business grows. This happens more often than you think. A customer comes in with X and Y in mind, and shortly after, needs to move up in size or capability because their business grew that rapidly. Although that is an excellent problem to have, try to choose the better machine first.
Don't buy your CNC and options piecemeal to save money
It’s better to get your CNC machine, options, tooling, software, vacuum pump, etc. from the same CNC provider, if you can. This saves a customer from being redirected from one vendor to another when there is a problem. Technical support can sometimes be a pain in the butt, so keeping all of your support at one company definitely saves time, energy, and money. At Techno we support all aspects of the CNC router and options. Our support team is hands-on and we have thousands of customers that email us monthly about how excellent our support team is. Read it for yourself on our reviews page.
